25. march 2010 / PATRIK ELIAS TIED FOR SECOND ALL-TIME IN POINTS FOR A CZECH PLAYER

Patrik Elias has made history yet again. A two point night (1g, 1a) against the visiting New York Rangers Thursday brings his career point total to 747, good enough to catch former teammate Bobby Holik for second in career points for a Czech NHLer. Jaromir Jagr sits atop the list with 1,599 points.

The Devils (43-25-5) dropped Thursday’s battle 4-3 in a shootout, but picked up a crucial point to regain possession of first place in the Atlantic Division.

Both of Patrik’s points came in the third period. He ripped a one-time snapshot in at 3:53 and then set up a Jamie Langebrunnner tally at 12:57. He threw six shots on goal, led the team in time on the ice (24:28) and was selected as the game’s third star.

Patrik has five points (1g, 4a) in his last two games. He’ll have a chance to surpass Holik on Saturday when the Devils head to Montreal to face the surging Canadiens.
